While coaching suits clients who are in need of some help and motivation to find the resources they need to overcome their obstacles, therapy is best suited for those who need a deeper approach to healing. Therapy is much more in-depth into the past which coaching rarely looks to the past to overcome current and future obstacles.

Until the federal laws change to open up state-bound laws for therapists, I only am able to see therapy clients if they currently hold a permanent residence in the state of Tennessee and are within state borders for sessions. Please ask if you’d be a good fit for coaching if you reside outside of Tennessee.

In the state of Tennessee, it is required that professional counselors undergo rigorous training. After a Masters degree is achieved, a potential counselor/therapist must acquire at least 2 to 5 years of experience, 100 to 150 hours of supervision, and pass 3 important tests in order to receive their full license. At this stage in my licensure requirements, I am finishing up the last couple of months of my 2 years; however, I have already completed over 1,500 face-to-face client hours, which is the requirement for a licensed professional counselor who has diagnostic capabilities.
