My Most Helpful Script
“I’m doing the best I can do with what I have”. I am unsure where I came across this quote, but I am ever so thankful for those words being shared with me.
It’s more of a philosophy or perspective on life that I’ve gathered than an actual tool. It can be seen as more of a self-affirmation than a coping skill. Regardless, I want you to ask yourself: in every moment of your life, have you been doing the best you can with what you have? Think back to when you were really young and you hadn’t yet learned all that you have now. Even then, you were doing the best that you could with the tools, information, resources, and responsibility you had on you. Now, think back to some really difficult moments in your life. You know, the times you might “regret”. Even then, you were doing the best that you could with the tools, information, resources, and responsibility you had on you.
Next time you’re going through adversity, try this script out on yourself. See what happens.
